Have you ever…
Looked at a textbook and thought you could have done a much better job?
Wanted to touch millions of students’ lives?
Desired to influence the next generation of budding biologists?
If so, we hope you’ll consider joining Khan Academy as a Biology Advisor!
What is Khan Academy: Khan Academy’s mission is to provide a world-class education for anyone, anywhere. Khan currently reaches 13 million students every month across the globe and the Amgen Foundation has recently provided a one-year grant for Khan’s biology efforts. Over the next year, Khan Academy will produce engaging and rigorous videos, articles, and practice questions covering the main topic areas of advanced high school and introductory college biology.
Khan Academy’s Request
What Khan Academy needs from Amgen Scholars: While Khan Academy will produce the videos, articles, and questions and is developing the underlying software architecture to make these resources readily available to students around the world, we need your help to make sure the content resources are top-notch and provide the best possible resource for students. We are seeking Amgen Scholars volunteers to act as Biology Advisors for our new materials.
How it works: Advisors will review biology content made by Khan Academy, primarily articles and videos, for accuracy, completeness, and currency, flagging any areas of concern so that materials can be edited or replaced. This review process is absolutely essential to ensure that our content is high-quality and reflects the best current understanding of biological topics. We anticipate asking Biology Advisors to review 2-4 pieces of content per month (equivalent to approximately 4-10 hours per month).
How to apply: If you are interested in being a Biology Advisor, please complete the short application found here. In the application, we want to find out a bit more about you, as well as give you a short sample article to review.
Any questions? Please feel free to contact Emily Abrash, Khan Academy’s Biology Content Fellow, at email@example.com.
Thanks for your interest, and we look forward to having Amgen Scholars help with this exciting initiative!
